New England's Wedding Photographer

Last weekend proved to beyond entertaining in the studio! I would like to introduce you to Michaela Michael, and soon-to-be graduate of The Douglas Education School for Special Effects and Design. This girl has talent!

She has quite the range in her skills and there simply was not enough time to in our evening to cover every aspect of her technique. We were fortune to see some glam, the aged, the beaten and bruised and some of what we're lovingly referring to as the "B-rated horror flick" look. I was impressed with her ideas and how quickly she decided on what would look best for each model.

Check out more of the awesome-ness below...

The website for Michaela Michael is in the works! The moment it becomes live, I'll be posting it immediately.

Good times indeed for Summer Stone Studios.

A Lovely Celebration In The Woods....

Posted by Summer Stone Studios |

My oh my...a huge congratulations goes out to Chris and Rachel! I was honored to be part of their wedding day adventures last weekend. The weather was perfect and this couple threw one incredibly memorable evening.

It's always a pleasure to get to know a new couple, and that's what I was fortunate to do months before their wedding. I got to see some familiar faces, including Liz (the twin) that has now been part of 3 weddings I've shot.

The family and friends were welcoming from the moment I arrived and I felt like part of the celebration all day. I appreciated the small touches of the Rachel & Chris's personality. The center pieces were darling and the "flowers" the guys wore were PERFECT!

I've never been to a ceremony where the priest recited how the couple met word for word. It was so adorable to watch their facial expressions and it was touching to hear their story.

What a day! And what a fabulous celebration in the woods after the wedding!

Thank you Chris & Rachel!

Here are a few sneak peeks for you!

A night of fancy...

Thank you to the Holyoke Hospital Auxiliary Board for inviting me to be their photographer last weekend. It was a lovely event full of sparkly gowns, handsome suits, live music and the best steak I've had in LONG time.

The view alone was worth the trip to Massachusetts!

I'd like to send a BIG thank you to my number one supporter and best assistant, Susie Cisek. This was her first event with me and I must say she handled the pressure rather well.

I enjoyed meeting everyone and I look forward to seeing you again next year!

If you portrait was taken this evening, please follow the info on the back of your card. Return to the main site, click Client Login, Click Dance and then enter the password.

Thank you,

-S

My oh my! Time flies when you're working 50+ hours a week since August. BUT! Times have changed and all things lovely are looking up! I'm beyond excited to come back to what makes me happiest. I never left you, but life called and my passion had to sit and wait patiently....until now.

Fist of all, I want to send a HUGE congratulations to Rachel and Chris! These two cuties are gettin' hitched August 7th and I'm completely stoked to be part of their wedding day. Hopefully we can get some engagement shots done soon! ...hint hint wink wink....

Also, one of my most favorite couples had a baby. How blessed am I that I got to be around for some major milestones in their lives. The wedding was beautiful, the maternity shots proved to be one of my most enjoyable afternoons and finally meeting Baby Julia was the icing on the cake. Take a looksy...

Tien-Tien and Chris are such a delightful addition to my life. I can't wait to watch Julia grow up! Such a sweet family.

Summer Stone Studios has some big events coming up soon. It feels good to have the support of my friends of family. Now it's time to go big once again! This month we have band photos for Wry (go check them out!) and I'm shooting the Holyoke Massachusetts Hospital Auxiliary Gala. Time to get fancy!

Thank you for sticking around. I'll see you out there!

Inspiration can hit you in so many unusual ways. For me, it struck during a conversation with a good friend over a Newcastle at Rudy's in New Haven, CT. I have lived here in the Elm City for nearly five years and I have met some incredible people. However, I can't help but wonder what I'm missing. Also, perhaps others are missing out on the faces and places I do have the pleasure of already knowing. So many places, so many faces, so many points of view that I (and many others) have yet to encounter in this huge tiny city.

So, with that in mind...I present you with....

Here's the idea. I want to get a better idea of the awesome people of New Haven, CT. A list of 20 questions was put together to bring out a bit of one's personality and let us in on their reasons for loving/liking/loathing this city where we live our one-of-a-kind lives. The concept for choosing one hundred people was rather simple. 25 was too easy, 50 was too boring and 100 sounded more like a challenge. It's a good round number.

The only requirement for this project is that one MUST be a New Haven resident, willing to answer the 20 questions, willing to have your answers posted on the on-going blog AND allow a fun "day in the life of" photo shoot. Sounds so simple, yes?

The shoots are starting this week and I'm beyond excited to meet everyone and experience what makes this city work for them and what their day looks like to the world.

The requests for the 20 questions are rolling in and I'm already in shock at how quickly word travels here. Keep your eye on the blog for the beginning of the 100 New Haven People posts! It will be one a day for, yes, you guessed it....100 days.

Want more info on what you can do to be part of this venture? Send me an email? or comment the blog. I'll get back to you ASAP!

Thank you, Boston!

Posted by Summer Stone Studios |

Last weekend, I headed up to Boston to showcase the new look and photos of SSS. It was a FANTASTIC trip! It was exciting to be part of the 2009 Boston Pride festival. I appreciate all the new faces and endless compliments on my work. Much appreciated, my friends!

The Flash Project, the non-wedding addition to SSS was also out and about at the Festival. We had a great turn out for our PHOTO SHOOT GIVE-AWAY! The winners will be announced on Saturday and we're looking forward to heading back to Boston and making some art.

Being in Boston also gave me the opportunity to meet some really talented artists. For example, let me introduce you to Victoria Jones, the founder of Mer+ge. There's some serious talent here and I urge you to check out the site. Graphic T's that stand for something! So awesome, I had to buy one too....just like TONS of others that simply could not get enough! It was fortunate to have a fellow artist next to the SSS booth.

Thank you to all the people that made it by the booth! We appreciated your kind words and can't wait to work with you in the future!
